Sydney’s western hub will soon be home to two new office towers reaching for the sky. The 53-story towers will feature a terrace with floating gardens, bringing a futuristic feel to the Parramatta skyline. Sydney firm Johnson Pilton Walker won the design contract in a highly competitive international competition involving more than 70 submissions from around the world. The project is set to become the significant feature of the Parramatta CBD redevelopment of Parramatta Square.

The design features a 25th floor sky terrace and a 27th floor sky lobby jutting out from the tower and providing panoramic views all the way from the Sydney CBD to the Blue Mountains. According to local councillors, “This project is essential to the revitalisation of the Parramatta town centre and to the safe, easy, pleasant delivery of pedestrians from the transport interchange to the civic heart of Parramatta.”

The commercial office space will amount to 140,000 square metres upon completion, a development welcomed by regional office fitout and design experts. Providers of cutting-edge designs, such as EBN Office Fitouts are certain to be consulted regarding optimising use of available space. Altogether, the Parramatta Square development, covering three hectares, is expected to cost $2 billion dollars to complete, with the two towers functioning as key centrepieces.

The towers will reach 200 metres high and employ 13,000 workers during the peak building phase. The unprecedented surge of interest in Parramatta by developers is attracting many billions of dollars, with apartment complexes and office towers creating a viable and exciting commercial heart in western Sydney. Local and international investment is flowing into the area, with a Chinese group recently purchasing a $60million site from Frasers Property Australia.

Other major projects include a Macquarie Street commercial building awarded to Architectus, and Grimshaw Architects being awarded the Church Street Aspire residential tower development. The exciting growth phase has not gone unnoticed by the state government, with plans to relocate government departments to stimulate even more growth and ease commuter congestion across the city. The futuristic developments are perfectly suited to design experts at EBN Office Fitouts, one of Sydney’s premier office design and fitout companies.
